Family Trees

Family TreesA family tree wired into your DNA.

Build your tree or import a GEDCOM file, link relatives to their raw DNA kits so their Y-DNA and mtDNA haplogroups fill in by themselves, and follow your family’s moves across a map, generation by generation.

Genealogy and genetics, on one canvas

Linked to your DNA

Link a relative to a raw DNA kit and their Y-DNA and mtDNA haplogroups fill in from it. Add admixture and qpAdm results to anyone by pasting a share link.

Bring the tree you have

Import a GEDCOM file from any genealogy site or program, preview it before anything is added, and export GEDCOM 5.5.1 whenever you like.

Migration on a map

Add birthplaces and the map draws every move from parent to child, across every generation you have placed.

Direct lines and posters

Follow one person’s direct line back through the generations, or lay the tree out as a print-ready poster in several designs and sizes.

Share it your way

Share a read-only copy with one person, or publish a snapshot that starts with initials only and shows just the details you switch on.

Family health history

With a plan, record conditions and see which lines they could have come down, by inheritance mode. Health details never leave in a share or a GEDCOM file.

Your tree in three steps

  1. 1

    Start a tree

Add yourself and work outwards, or import a GEDCOM file you already have.

  2. 2

    Link your DNA

Upload a raw DNA file from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, FamilyTreeDNA, MyHeritage, LivingDNA or WeGene and link it to a person.

  3. 3

    Explore it

Move between the tree, the map and each person’s direct line, then share it with family.

Most of it is free

Building, importing, mapping and sharing trees costs nothing. A Basic or Pro plan adds the extras.

How to build a family tree on Genoplot3:40

Family Trees

Build a family tree wired into your DNA: GEDCOM import and export, portraits and galleries, haplogroups read from your raw files, attached admixture and qpAdm results, a map view, and private sharing.

Frequently asked

Can I import my tree from another site?

Yes, as a GEDCOM file, the format genealogy sites and programs export. You see a preview before anything is added, and you can export GEDCOM 5.5.1 at any time.

Do I need a DNA test?

No. A tree works on its own. Linking a raw DNA kit adds haplogroups, and pasting a result’s share link attaches your ancestry results to the right person.

Is it free?

Building, importing, exporting, mapping and sharing trees is free. A Basic or Pro plan adds poster downloads, photo galleries, family health history and one-click result attachment.

Who can see my tree?

Only you, until you share it. You can share a read-only copy with one Genoplot user, or publish a snapshot that starts with initials only and shows only the details you switch on.

How big can a tree be?

Roughly a thousand people per tree. Very large GEDCOM files are trimmed on import rather than refused, and you see what will be kept first.
